Mike Schmidt played 18 seasons for the Philadelphia Phillies and is considered one of the greatest third basemen to ever play.
During his career, Schmidt was a twelve-time All-Star and won the National League Gold Glove Award ten times. Schmidt was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995. He was a member of the 1980 World Champion Phillies and was the 1980 World Series MVP.
Since retiring, Mike Schmidt has spent much of his career broadcasting Phillies games.
On March 16, 2014, Schmidt disclosed that he battled stage-3 melanoma cancer during the summer of 2013, but he is now cancer-free. Schmidt has been a spokesperson for melanoma cancer related products and speaks at different melanoma skin conferences.
