The team was founded in 1960 by businessman Lamar Hunt and was a charter member of the AFL. In the spring of 1963 the team relocated to Kansas City and assumed its current name. The Chiefs fans are as good as any in the NFL having supported such fan favorites Patrick Mahomes, Coach Andy Reid, and Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez over the years.
