BIOGRAPHY

Nancy Lieberman is a former professional basketball player and coach. Lieberman attended Old Dominion University, and played on the women's basketball team.

During college, she and her team won two consecutive AIAW National Championships and one WNIT (Women's National Invitation Tournament) Championship in 1978. She would go on to drop out of college to join the pro's, despite winning titles in college. On July 24, 2008, at 50 years old, Lieberman signed a seven-day contract with the Detroit Shock, breaking her own previous record as the oldest player in league history. She played one game and had two assists and two turnovers against the Houston Comets. She was also the first woman to coach a men's pro basketball team. Lieberman is regarded as one of the greatest figures in American women's basketball.

Lieberman is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame the St. Louis Jewish Sports Hall of Fame (inducted in 2014), and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. As of 2021, Lieberman is a broadcaster for the Oklahoma City Thunder, as well as the head coach of Power, a team in the BIG3 which she led to its 2018 Championship.
