Buzz Williams is a basketball coach who has coached multiple NCAA teams since 1994. Williams first gained recognition as a head coach when he got the job at Marquette in 2008 after being the assistant coach the year prior. Between 2008 and 2014 Coach Buzz led the Golden Eagles to a winning season every year and multiple NCAA tournament appearances.
After the 2014 season Coach Williams moved to Virginia Tech for the opening head coach position. This move stirred a lot of controversy because Marquette was doing so well and Virginia Tech seemed to be in a rebuilding phase. Despite this Williams was willing to take on the challenge. In 2018-2019 the Hokies were in the AP Top 10 for the first time since the 1995-1996 season. In the 2019 tournament the Hokies went to the Sweet Sixteen since 1967.
In 2019 Williams got the head coaching job at Texas A&M and won SEC Coach of the Year in his first year with the team.
