Eric Wynalda is a former professional soccer player that played for the United States Men's national soccer team (USMNT). He attended San Diego State University from 1987 to 1989 where he played for the Aztecs men's soccer team, scoring 34 goals and assisting on 25 others during his three seasons.

Wynalda was one of the first Americans to play professionally in Europe before returning to his home country in 1996 to play in Major League Soccer (MLS) and scoring the first goal in the league's history. Until 2008, he was the all-time leading goalscorer for the United States national team. Wynalda was described as a shifty, dynamic player off the dribble with a heavy shot. In August 1992, USSF loaned Wynalda to Bundesliga club 1. FC Saarbrücken for $45,000. When he arrived at Saarbrücken, he became the first American-born player to play for a top level German club. He had an immediate impact, scoring eight goals in the first half of the season where he played all 17 matches.

Wynalda was elected to the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2004. He was formerly an analyst and color commentator for soccer coverage on Fox Sports 1 and ESPN. As of 2020, he is the current first-team manager of New Amsterdam FC in the National Independent Soccer Association. Previously, he hosted of WTF: Wynalda Talks Football on SiriusXM FC.
