Billy Sims is a former NFL running back and Oklahoma Sooner superstar. At the University of Oklahoma Sims was a two time All-American and won the Heisman Trophy in 1978 after setting a school record for average yards per carry that wouldn't be broken until 2004 by a young Adrian Peterson. In 1979 Sims was the runner-up for the Heisman. He led the Sooners to three straight Orange Bowl games with two consecutive wins. Despite battling through injuries Sims finished his college career with 3,813 rushing yards, most of which came in his last two seasons. Sims would later on be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. 

His success in college led Sims to being picked first over all in the 1980 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. With the Lions sims made the Pro Bowl three times (1980-1982) and helped the lions reach two playoff appeareances in 1982 and 1983. He was then forced to retire midway through the 1984 season. Sims finished his NFL career with 5,106 rushing yards, 2,072 reception yards, and 47 total touchdowns.
