The team was founded in 1959 as the Titans of New York, an original member of the AFL and joined the NFL during the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. The Jets (J-E-T-S), Jets, Jets, Jets is a familiar and popular chant herd throughout the stadium as they cheer. The passionate fan based has seen many great players and coaches through the years including Curtis Martin, Joe Namath, Wayne Chrebet and many more.
