Michael Oher is a former NFL offensive tackle. Oher had an extremeley difficult childhood. Born into a family of 12, his parents often dealt with addiction as well as prison time and were never really there for nim. He was never disciplined as a child and bounced around elementary schools and foster homes.

Oher's life through his final year of high school and first year of college is one of the subjects of Michael Lewis' 2006 book, The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, and was featured in the Academy Award-winning 2009 film The Blind Side. It tells the story of a kid who lives on the street who is taken in by a wealthy family, and makes his way to earning a college scholarship. He played college football for the University of Mississippi, where he earned unanimous All-American honors, and was selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Oher played for eight seasons, primarily with the Baltimore Ravens. He also played for the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers. 

Oher wrote his autobiography, I Beat the Odds: From Homelessness to The Blind Side and Beyond, in 2011.
