Mike Singletary is a former NFL linebacker and coach. Singletary layed college football for Baylor University where he dominated on the defensive side of the field for four years. As a sophmore he set a school record with 232 tackles in a single season. In that year he had multiple games with more than 30 tackles. By the end of his college career Singletary would have accumulated a total of 662 tackles which would also set a school record. This outstanding college career would later lead to Sims being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. 

Singletary would make his first start in his rookie year for the Chicago Bears in 1981 and go on to play in 172 games for 12 seasons with the team. In those 12 years he was a ten time Pro Bowler and 2 time Defensive Player of the Year (1985,1988). In 1985 he helped the Bears finish with a 15-1 record which ended with a Super Bowl win. In that same year Singletary had 109 solo tackles, 3 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries, and an interception. He would later retire in 1992 and be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1998. 

In 2003 Mike Singletary started his coaching career with the Baltimore Ravens as a linebackers' coach. After the 2004 season he would move on to be the assistant coach of the San Francisco 49ers where he later became the  head coach between 2008-2010. Sims would also the assistant coach for the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams.
