Jeff Hostetler is a former professional quarterback. Hostetler started his career at Penn State, but would eventually transfer to West Virginia. In 1983, Hostetler led the #7 Mountaineers over Big East rival Pitt after a fourth quarter run to beat the Panthers 24–21, the first victory over Pitt in seven years. 

Hostetler played for the NFL's New York Giants, Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders, and Washington Redskins. Hostetler was drafted by the Giants in the third round of the 1984 NFL Draft. Hostetler took time to develop, but eventually found himself leading the Giants to Super Bowls. Hostetler started Super Bowl XXV, where the Giants defeated the heavily favored Bills 20-19. Later on in 1994, Hostetler was voted to his only career Pro Bowl after leading the Raiders to a 9-7 record. Hostetler’s final year in Oakland saw him reach a career high in touchdown passes with 23, as he started thirteen games and finished with a 7-6 record. After the Raiders, Hostetler was traded to the Washington Football Team as a 36-year-old.

In 2008, ESPN ranked Hostetler's performance the 30th best quarterback performance in Super Bowl history. As of 2021, Hostetler lives in the place where he was collegiately immortalized, in Morgantown, West Virginia. There, Hostetler owns a construction company.
