Dirk Nowitzki is a former NBA legend who played a total of 21 years in the league. Coming out of Germany he was picked ninth overall in the 1998 draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and immediatley traded to the Dallas Mavericks where he would spend his entire career. After struggling in his first year against some of the bigger and more athletic power forwards, Dirk developed himself into one of the greatest shooting power forwards and created his signature post fade-away move. Nowitzki would lead the team to it's first playoff appearenace after ten years in the 2000-01 season. For the next fifteen season the Mavericks would only miss one playoff appeareance.
Dirk led the team to a total of fifteen playoffs and helped the franchise to it's first finals appeareance in 2006 and get their first NBA Championship in 2011 when he was named Finals MVP. In 2007 he was named the league's MVP. In that year Nowitzki joined the 50-40-90 club with 50% from the field 40% from the three point line and 90% from free throws. Nowitzki was one of the leagues most consistant scorers averaging 20.7 ppg in his career. This consistency earned a total of 14 trips to the All-Star game. Nowitzki is known for being a great player and a great teammate and was recognized for this by being named the 2017 Teammate of the Year.
