The Saints were founded by John W. Mecom Jr. David Dixon and the city of New Orleans in 1966 and the Saints joined the NFL as an expansion team in 1967. The Saints players and coaches have been quite popular over the years, including Head Coach Sean Payton, Drew Brees, Archie Manning, George Rogers, Joe Horn, Ricky Williams and many others.
